Community Toast

Headquartered in Baltimore, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company is Maryland's largest natural gas and electric utility, delivering power to more than 1.3 million electric customers and nearly 700,000 natural gas customers in central Maryland. For over two centuries, BGE has served the community with a commitment to safety, excellence, innovation, integrity, diversity, and inclusion. As a purpose-driven company and responsible corporate citizen, BGE contributes to the vibrancy of the region through charitable giving and active engagement; 80% of their charitable giving supports diverse initiatives and company-wide, their employees dedicate 25,000 hours of volunteer work annually. There are currently more than 150 nonprofit boards with BGE employee representation, including The League for People with Disabilities' Board of Directors. Through BGE's philanthropy and volunteerism, The League has been able to thrive and serve our participants and neighbors with a network of support and opportunity. BGE's continuous sponsorship of The League's annual event and participation in past Art Days has helped lift up the populations that need the most support. The League is grateful for the relationship with such a longstanding pillar of the Baltimore community as we continue to grow and build an inclusive, sustainable environment together.

Ambassador Toast

Andy and Cherie Snyder co-founded the Snyder Center for Aphasia Life Enhancement (SCALE) in 2008, which merged with The League for People with Disabilities in November of 2014, effectively improving the quality of life for people living with aphasia and their families in Maryland. Married in 1978, the couple have four children and three grandchildren that brighten their lives. Andy earned his BA in History from Franklin and Marshall College. He has served on The League's Board of Directors since 2014 and his extensive experience in the construction and remodeling industry over the decades earned him an appointment to serve on the Maryland Home Improvement Commission for 14 years as a Home Improvement Commissioner. Andy has also just finished his 7th season as Assistant Lacrosse Coach at New Town High School in Owings Mills but despite his many years of philanthropy, advocacy, volunteerism, and consulting, Andy is most proud to be The League's "Real Beard Santa" for holiday festivities. Born and raised in Baltimore County, Cherie graduated from UMBC with her BA in Classics. She served as a Benefits Coordinator for Snyder Home Services until retirement, collecting a Girl Scout Leadership Award, participating as a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, and advancing as a student/member at Baltimore Clayworks. In addition to supporting The League and its programs, Cherie enjoys classical piano, pottery, rounds of golf with her husband, and summers with her family and friends at Deep Creek Lake. It is The League's great privilege to honor the Snyder's for their compassion and dedication to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities.
